12 PAINT Base colour MAPS

As I was working from concept art that featured a colour version of the character, it was understand­ably very easy for me to pick the right colours for my model – this will often be the case when working from someone else’s concept art, although if you’re creating your own characters then you’ll need to choose the colours carefully. I begin my texture work by sampling my colours from the concept and painting on top of my model. The skin has two main colours: darker green on the top and back, and a lighter green on the front.
