this tutorial will enable you to re-create Hollywood destructions in VFX. You’ve likely seen many scenes of awesome VFX destruction in the movies, and you may have decided that you would love to re-create these scenes yourself, but you do not have enough knowledge or an idea on where to start. If that’s the case, we are here to help you in the process of bringing these ideas to life.

Firstly, we should sketch our concepts on paper or digital media and try to imagine how the final scene will look. Sometimes we avoid this process to save time and we begin at the end, but we should start any new work deciding on the basics of the project. Sometimes we start a new work trying to finish as soon as possible, but every project should be undertaken with a particular dedication in order for us to demonstrate our skills to future clients.

In this tutorial you’ll learn step by step how to re-create VFX destructions – specifically a destroyed pier – in 3ds Max and render engine V-ray.
