1960 FIRST OZ PATROL
GEN 2: 60 SERIES The first Patrol sold in Australia and the beginning of its legendary status here, thanks to a G60 crossing the Simpson Desert in 1962 – the first vehicle to do so.
1980 ’80S ICON
GEN 3: MQ PATROL Patrol gets modernised with improvements in comfort, style and equipment levels.
1987 COILED UP
GEN 4: Y60 (GQ PATROL) Fourth-gen Patrol is the first with coil-spring suspension, making it just as comfortable on road as off.
1997 LAST OIL-BURNER
GEN 5: Y61 (GU) PATROL Sleek new body and further comfort, refinement and NVH improvements, but the last Patrol model to offer a diesel.
2012 KING OF THE DESERT
50TH ANNIVERSARY: Released to commemorate the Patrol’s Simpson Desert crossing in ’62, the 50th Anniversary edition was limited to 500 units and included plenty of extra off-road kit.

GEN 6: Y62 PATROL The imminent demise of the GU means the days of a diesel Patrol are numbered – unless rumours of the all-new Y62 Patrol eventually scoring a Renault oil-burner turn out to be true.
