CLO­SURE OF CHOWILLA GAME RE­SERVE (SA)

Ar­eas of Chowilla Game Re­serve may be in­un­dated with wa­ter be­tween now and the end of De­cem­ber 2016, to im­prove the health of the flood­plain. The ac­tiv­ity may af­fect ac­cess to some camp­sites and roads within the re­serve. Nav­i­ga­tion in Chowilla Creek, past the en­vi­ron­men­tal reg­u­la­tor, is also re­stricted. AUS­TRALIAN AD­VEN­TURE FES­TI­VAL (VIC)

The Aus­tralian Ad­ven­ture Fes­ti­val is be­ing held in the East Gipp­s­land re­gion of Vic­to­ria from Oc­to­ber 21-23. The fes­ti­val, based in pretty Lakes En­trance, in­cludes an ad­ven­ture race (run, bike, ca­noe, run), ul­tra and half marathon, trail run­ning, moun­tain bike events of vary­ing lengths, as well as an ad­ven­ture fun run and ac­tiv­i­ties for kids. DEEP­WA­TER SCARE­CROW AND WOOL FES­TI­VAL (NSW)

The Deep­wa­ter Scare­crow and Wool Fes­ti­val, a free com­mu­nity-ori­ented, fam­i­lyfriendly event, will be held this year on Novem­ber 5. The main venue is at Deep­wa­ter Oval, where vis­i­tors will be thor­oughly en­ter­tained with shear­ing demon­stra­tions, woolly games for all the fam­ily, live sheep dis­plays, mu­sic, danc­ing, face paint­ing, as well as a lo­cal mar­ket. STYX ROAD CLO­SURE (TAS)

A sec­tion of Styx Road will be closed for safety rea­sons due to tim­ber har­vest­ing tak­ing place about 1km south of the bridge cross­ing the Styx River – as ap­proached from the Karanja end. CAMP OVEN COOK OFF (VIC)

The Sig­na­ture Dish Camp Oven Cook Off will be held at the Maf­fra Recre­ational Re­serve as part of the Maf­fra Show. The show will take place Oc­to­ber 21-22. FISH­ER­MAN’S TRACK (WA)

The Depart­ment of Parks and Wildlife has ad­vised that Fish­er­man’s Track to Broke In­let – in D’en­tre­casteaux Na­tional Park – should soon be open, if it isn’t al­ready. FRASER IS­LAND CAMP (QLD)

Camp­ing and 4Wd­ing on Fraser Is­land is hard to beat, but Fraser Is­land’s beaches and sand tracks are rough and only suit­able for high­clear­ance 4WD ve­hi­cles with low range ca­pac­ity. AWD ve­hi­cles aren’t rec­om­mended. There are 35 dif­fer­ent camp­ing ar­eas on Fraser, but not all are open at any one time. 4WD TRACKS OPEN­ING (VIC)
