Truck­ies rev up for fundraiser

The first Al­bany Con­voy for Kids was a rag­ing suc­cess on Sun­day morn­ing as 85 trucks drove through town to raise money for the chil­dren’s ward of Al­bany Re­gional Hos­pi­tal.

Af­ter a break­fast sausage siz­zle and brief­ing in the Coles Orana carpark, smil­ing young faces were loaded into trucks for an ex­pe­ri­ence they will never for­get.

Ve­hi­cles ranged from the new­est and big­gest to vin­tage wool trucks full of char­ac­ter.

ATM man­aged the traf­fic as it con­voyed to the carpark near Due South and on­look­ers stared in awe at the trucks driv­ing by. Or­gan­iser Joe O’Mal­ley said the event would oc­cur ev­ery two years and this year’s turnout was de­light­ful to see.
