Netballers celebrate on night of award giving
Albany Netball Association held its annual Michelle Parsons A1 Awards night at Princess Royal Sailing Club last Saturday night, with a big crowd in attendance.
All seven A1 teams were on hand for the vote count for the prestigious Michelle Parsons Memorial Award, won by the fairest and best player in the top-tier division.
Kangas 1 defender Rachel Willcocks won her second Michelle Parsons Memorial Award after polling 23 votes in the 2017 season to defeat runner-up Lisa Amess from Royals Saints 1 on 19 votes.
The other major award, the Susan Howlett Award for the fairest and best under-18 player in A1, was taken out by Magpies 1 defender Sophie Bacon-Lewis.
The event was hosted by Royals Saints Netball Club and Sam Loveridge was the official MC.
