Net­ballers cel­e­brate on night of award giv­ing

Al­bany Net­ball As­so­ci­a­tion held its an­nual Michelle Par­sons A1 Awards night at Princess Royal Sail­ing Club last Satur­day night, with a big crowd in at­ten­dance.

All seven A1 teams were on hand for the vote count for the pres­ti­gious Michelle Par­sons Memo­rial Award, won by the fairest and best player in the top-tier divi­sion.

Kan­gas 1 de­fender Rachel Will­cocks won her sec­ond Michelle Par­sons Memo­rial Award af­ter polling 23 votes in the 2017 sea­son to de­feat runner-up Lisa Amess from Roy­als Saints 1 on 19 votes.

The other ma­jor award, the Su­san Howlett Award for the fairest and best un­der-18 player in A1, was taken out by Mag­pies 1 de­fender So­phie Ba­con-Lewis.

The event was hosted by Roy­als Saints Net­ball Club and Sam Loveridge was the of­fi­cial MC.
