Bridgetown singer-songwriter Tracy Barnett brings her beautifully emotive new album, Heart Soul Feeling, to the White Star Hotel.

Four years in the making, the album features Barnett’s warm, rhythmic guitar riffs in a new deeper and matured light.

The passion in the lyrics of her roots music and the stories behind them is what Barnett says makes her show an intimate night.

“This time around, I let go of the restraints of how a song ‘should be’ from a technical angle and so what was born was an album of pure creativity,” she said.

“It’s raw, honest, high energy and beautiful . . . it’s as dynamic as I am.

“I have been through some pretty dark times in the last few years, and strangely, I usually produce some of my most inspiring, empowering and uplifting songs during these times — I think it’s an instilled coping mechanism of mine.”

Barnett has received airplay on Triple J’s program Roots ‘N’ All and is developing a fan base of all ages.

She said some of her fondest memories of performing were the responses she got from her audience.

“Everyone I talk to after a show has gained something from the experience — some are inspired in life or inspired musically, others feel joyful or comforted,” she said.

“Sharing music is a gift I never take for granted, and with that in mind, I strive to give all the positive energy I can muster to the audience.”

Barnett plays the White Star Hotel on November 19 at 5pm. Free entry.

Tracey Barnett is bringing the best of roots music to Albany.
