New traffic measures

Albany Advertiser - - NEWS -

Up to six traffic slow points could be installed on Bathurst and Nelson streets to help cut speeding.

The City of Albany’s development and infrastructure committee will discuss a proposal to install the “local area traffic management devices” on the streets at an estimated cost of $25,000.

The plan was originally before the council earlier this year but was deferred for two months for further consideration. The report to next week’s committee meeting said traffic issues on Bathurst and Nelson streets had been ongoing since 2010.

Speed cushions were installed in 2010 but removed in early 2015 because of noise complaints from residents.

The report said traffic management devices would reduce traffic speed while minimising noise.
