Traps set for mountain bikers
Police say mountain bikers are being targeted by the setting of “man traps” on trails on Mt Clarence after recent incidents left riders injured.
Albany police are now investigating the incident, which left the 47year-old rider with a serious laceration to his leg and other injuries.
The incident occurred between 2.30pm and 3pm on Sunday, October 15, at the Albany Pilot Trail at Apex Drive, on Mt Clarence.
Senior Constable Bennett Moss said a branch was placed across the track at handlebar height resulting in the rider colliding and crashing and needing 17 stitches to his leg.
However, Sen Const Moss said the incident was not isolated.
On Monday, a 49-year-old rider was injured after a branch was placed across another track on Mt Clarence.
Police urge anyone who witnesses suspicious behaviour or with information on the recent incidents to contact Albany police on 9892 9300.
