Group to play favourites
Denmark’s Monkey Rock are gearing up to ooze passion and dedication for rock music when they play at Wilson’s Brewery on Saturday.
Named after Denmark’s local landmark, the term reflects the band’s persona — monkey hints at the fun the band have, and rock indicates the solid musical background the band formed on.
Band manager and bass guitarist Gilbert Arlandoo said the four experienced musicians want nothing more than to bring the great rock hits to the Great Southern Region, while having a good time along the way.
“There is something about the way we play together, sometimes it’s by accident and sometimes it’s through our combined experiences,” he said.
“We pay attention to each other and use different ideas to create arrangements and variations that make the covers flow better for our band configuration.
“Most importantly we have fun playing together.”
Monkey Rock will cover an eclectic range of music when they play at Wilsons.
Expect crowd favourites by their musical influences such as Nirvana, Pink Floyd, Muse, AC DC, and Foo Fighters.
Arlandoo said they would play rock classics, hard rock, punk rock and pop rock. “We avail ourselves to play from full electric to unplugged (semi-acoustic) gigs to suit the event, the venue, the occasion or the audience.”
Relive the greatest of rock music at Wilson’s Brewery at 1pm on Saturday, November 11.
