Minister to cut ribbon on NDIS
Minister for Disability Services and Environment Stephen Dawson will arrive in Albany today to open a National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) centre.
An official ceremony will take place at the premises on Lower Stirling Terrace this afternoon, with Mr Dawson and other guest speakers.
There are more than 500 people with a disability in the Great Southern region.
The scheme aims to invest in people with a disability to gain the skills and capability to improve their outcomes for later life, including chances of employment and community participation.
Trials began in 2013 and implemented from 2016 in stages over three years. It is expected to be operating completely from mid-2019.
