Man charged over bur­glary at jewellers

The man wanted over a bur­glary at an Al­bany jewellery store ear­lier this year has been ar­rested and charged.

The 21-year-old was ar­rested last week and charged by Ar­madale de­tec­tives over a se­ries of other bur­glar­ies al­legedly com­mit­ted on three Al­bany schools re­cently and a home in Lock­yer in July.

He ap­peared in cus­tody in Perth Mag­is­trate’s Court last Fri­day fac­ing two counts of ag­gra­vated bur­glary, two counts of bur­glary and four counts of steal­ing.

He is yet to face court over al­le­ga­tions he stole $25,000 of jewellery from Michael Hill jewellers with a ju­ve­nile co-of­fender on July 23.

It is al­leged the ju­ve­nile and the ac­cused gained ac­cess to the plaza by forc­ing through a door, be­fore try­ing to break into an­other jewellery store to which they could not gain ac­cess, and they were cap­tured on CCTV.

Gold neck­laces were among the 50 items of jewellery stolen af­ter a glass dis­play cab­i­net was smashed.

A se­cu­rity roller door was also dam­aged.

The ju­ve­nile was charged with the bur­glary in Au­gust.

The man will reap­pear in Perth Mag­is­trate’s Court on Novem­ber 24.
