This year marks 101 years since the bat­tle of Beer­sheba. Lex Poreb­ski, of Gas­gasLex Im­ages, cap­tured this stun­ning shot at Satur­day’s memorial.

This year marks 101 years since the Bat­tle of Beer­sheba, fought on Oc­to­ber 31, 1917.

The bat­tle in­volved 800 Aus­tralian Light Horse­men and was con­sid­ered a cru­cial vic­tory in World War I. The fi­nal phase of the bat­tle was the fa­mous mounted charge of the 4th Light Horse Bri­gade.

Re­turned Ser­vices League dig­ni­taries and mem­bers of the com­mu­nity at­tended a memorial on Satur­day for the 101st an­niver­sary com­mem­o­ra­tions at the Desert Mounted Corp Memorial on Mt Clarence.

On Novem­ber 8, school stu­dents from Al­bany and nearby areas will come to­gether in a unique event to com­mem­o­rate the cen­te­nary of the Great War.
