Lis­ter mas­ters windy course

An­drew Lis­ter mas­tered the windy con­di­tions at Al­bany Golf Club last Satur­day to post a score of 41 Sta­ble­ford points to win the men’s com­pe­ti­tion by three strokes from run­ner-up Aaron Gliosca.

Oth­ers with good scores on the day were Doug Grant (36) and Brian Os­man (35), while the best gross was by Dar­ryl Robin­son.

Gail Kneale won the ladies’ com­pe­ti­tion with 36 points.

The men’s Mon­day nine-hole event was won by Ken Parker with 20 points, from Dun­can Per­ci­val with 19. Wendy Snow­ball won the ladies’ nine-hole com­pe­ti­tion on Tues­day on a count­back from Pam Good­man, both scor­ing 19 points.

A to­tal of 60 play­ers braved the wet and windy con­di­tions for the men’s mid­week 18-hole scroungers com­pe­ti­tion last Wed­nes­day and Bill Tichelaar was the even­tual win­ner with 36 points.

Ed James scored 35 points to take sec­ond place on a count­back from Ryan Western, and Michael Draper re­turned the best gross score.

Kerry Ste­icke and Pauline Ru­oss scored a net 75 to win the ladies’ Amer­i­can four­somes 18-hole com­pe­ti­tion on Thurs­day. Jan Fa­gents and Noel Suther­land fin­ished in sec­ond place with a score of 77.75.

The best gross score for the day was re­turned by Sue Skir­row and Wendy Fer­gu­son, while the ladies’ nine-hole com­pe­ti­tion was won by So­nia Witham and Ter­rie Tin­dale.

The men’s nine-hole com­pe­ti­tion last Fri­day was won by David Brown on a count­back from Ken Parker, both scor­ing 18 points.

The Sun­day golfers played a mixed 4BBB Sta­ble­ford com­pe­ti­tion and the win­ners with 46 points were the pair of Ivor and Dilys Watkins. Sec­ond place went to Tony and Mar­garet Wil­son, who scored 44 points.
