Lister masters windy course
Andrew Lister mastered the windy conditions at Albany Golf Club last Saturday to post a score of 41 Stableford points to win the men’s competition by three strokes from runner-up Aaron Gliosca.
Others with good scores on the day were Doug Grant (36) and Brian Osman (35), while the best gross was by Darryl Robinson.
Gail Kneale won the ladies’ competition with 36 points.
The men’s Monday nine-hole event was won by Ken Parker with 20 points, from Duncan Percival with 19. Wendy Snowball won the ladies’ nine-hole competition on Tuesday on a countback from Pam Goodman, both scoring 19 points.
A total of 60 players braved the wet and windy conditions for the men’s midweek 18-hole scroungers competition last Wednesday and Bill Tichelaar was the eventual winner with 36 points.
Ed James scored 35 points to take second place on a countback from Ryan Western, and Michael Draper returned the best gross score.
Kerry Steicke and Pauline Ruoss scored a net 75 to win the ladies’ American foursomes 18-hole competition on Thursday. Jan Fagents and Noel Sutherland finished in second place with a score of 77.75.
The best gross score for the day was returned by Sue Skirrow and Wendy Ferguson, while the ladies’ nine-hole competition was won by Sonia Witham and Terrie Tindale.
The men’s nine-hole competition last Friday was won by David Brown on a countback from Ken Parker, both scoring 18 points.
The Sunday golfers played a mixed 4BBB Stableford competition and the winners with 46 points were the pair of Ivor and Dilys Watkins. Second place went to Tony and Margaret Wilson, who scored 44 points.
