Man, 40, arrested at Katanning hospital
Police responded to a “code black” at Katanning Hospital last Tuesday after a 40-year-old man allegedly threatened members of staff with a knife.
During the incident Katanning hospital was closed briefly and exit and entrance to the hospital was restricted.
Constable Rob Gaynor said police attended the hospital and have since charged the 40-yearold Katanning man on six counts, including disorderly behaviour in public, disorderly conduct in a police station and possessing dangerous articles. Under the WA Health Emergency Code, code black is specified as an emergency during which “a person is threatening or attempting to harm themselves or others”.
No member of the public was harmed during the incident and the man appeared in Katanning Courthouse on Wednesday, August 23.
