Albany Extra - - Sport -

Albany Clay Target Club broke a 14-year drought to win the Great Southern Zone Clay Target teams event at Katanning last Sunday.

The last time Albany won the event was in 2003.

Competing against teams from Narrogin, Wagin, Denmark, Katanning and Kojonup, the Albany team achieved the highest overall score in a 140-target compilation of events in trap, skeet, double rise and walk-up, to win the prestigious teams event.

Albany also did well in the individual events, with Travis Adams winning the high gun, the top overall score, and Matt Waite winning the highest A-grade score.

From the event, a Great Southern trap and skeet team was selected for a Statewide competition in April.

Albany was well represented in both teams, with Travis Adams and Matt Waite being selected for the trap team.

The skeet team consists of Michael O’Donnell, Vic Irving, Travis Adams, Brad Williamson, all from Albany, and Wayne Drake-Brockman from Denmark.

Albany Clay Target Club’s Ben Braun, Travis Adams, Mathew Waite, Ollie McPartland and Jason Beveridge.
