Police hail public help in plant haul

Police have thanked the community for their assistance, which led to the seizure of 3kg of cannabis from a home in Dumbleyung.

A search warrant was issued last Thursday morning after Dumbleyung and Wagin police officers worked closely with Narrogin detectives.

The team arrested a 46-year-old man.

The man had his first court appearance in Perth on Friday and is facing a number of charges, including possession of cannabis with intent to sell and supply.

Dumbleyung police Sergeant Alby Dandenverg said it was obvious cannabis was growing in the house.

“On entering the house it was quite clear that three rooms were set up for hydroponic growing,” he said.

“After a search of the house, we seized in excess of 3kg of cannabis material and 19 plants — 3kg is the limit where you declare as a trafficking amount.”

Dumbleyung police said the cannabis haul was a display of great teamwork between police and the community.

“We were successful in this arrest due to following inquiries and local intelligence gathered by police and, more importantly, community information that has been put forward by members of the public,” Sgt Dandenverg said.

“We want to emphasise the importance of community information and people coming forward with their suspicions in relation to drug activity.

“This is just a classic example of what great outcomes we can have when members of the public come forward with good information.”

Nineteen plants and 3kg of cannabis was seized from a Dumbleyung home.
