Tennis juniors hit targets

Albany Extra - - Extra Sport - David Kerr David Kerr is the junior tennis co-ordinator of the Lower Great Southern Tennis Association

The Lower Great Southern Tennis Association went very well in last week’s D’Arcy Slater Cup.

On the final results, our B-team of Ben Kirkwood, George Hodgkinson, Levi Dawson and Ben Haclin also fared well with a fourth-placed finish.

With 15 teams involved this was an excellent event for our 13-andunder players, who finished first and fourth in the big field.

Denmark’s teams event is only one week away, which is the first junior event of the season, and will be held on Sunday, November 19.

Players can play A, B or C-grade and mix boys and girls in teams.

Well done to Abbi Gibson who represented Switzerland in the Junior Hopman Cup, played in Perth last weekend.

The teams of two event was a great chance to get some quality matchplay before her 14s national qualification campaign.

If successful, Abbi will gain main draw selection in both 12s and 14s girls singles at the December Showdown at Melbourne Park next month.
