Taste fest funding extended
One of the Great Southern’s most popular food and wine festivals has secured funding for a further three years.
Taste Great Southern will continue to please food and wine fans after the popular culinary festival secured State Government funding until 2021.
The annual event comprises activities that celebrate the lifestyle, premium food and awardwinning wine of Western Australia’s Great Southern region.
Aiming to highlight the produce the Great Southern region offers, the festival offers a diverse program of events that showcase local produce, places, talent and culture to visitors from outside of the region.
Past events have attracted up to 10,000 attendees, with about 1500 visitors from outside the Great Southern region each year, generating hundreds of thousands of dollars for the local economy.
Festival director Richard Campbell said he was thrilled to hear the festival had secured the funding.
“I congratulate Tourism WA for their support and understanding the enormous benefits that the Great Southern region offers the State,” he said.
“The region has so much to offer in the areas of tourism, food and wine, and with the evolving recognition it will one day become one of the most sought-after regions in Australia to visit and enjoy the amazing produce and attractions.”
“The ongoing support is testament to the hard work and passion behind those involved.”
Taste Great Southern will deliver about 25 unique food and wine events over 10 days, from the end of March to early April each year.
