Al­bany’s Noon­gar com­mu­nity and City of Al­bany ex­ec­u­tives gath­ered on Wed­nes­day to cel­e­brate the next phase of the City’s dual nam­ing project.

Al­bany MP Peter Wat­son pre­sented the City with a Lot­tery­west grant of $84,000 to sup­port the pro­gres­sion of its Restor­ing Me­nang Noon­gar Bood­jar Place Names project.

In part­ner­ship with the Me­nang Noon­gar com­mu­nity and South Coast Nat­u­ral Re­source Man­age­ment, the City will con­tinue ex­plor­ing the tra­di­tional Noon­gar names for places across Al­bany.
