Big year at Buller for Interschools
THE SUBARU Victorian and Australian Interschool Snowsports Championships as well as the South Australian Interschools will be hosted at Mt Buller in 2015.
The South Australian (SA) Interschools will be conducted on July 15 and 16 in the disciplines of Alpine Skiing and Snowboarding. Students of all ages and abilities will battle it out for champion school, team and for individual honours. The SASKI week from Sunday, July 12 to Friday, July 17 is a celebration of not only the Interschools, the event also serves as an accessible family holiday to Mt Buller in the last week of the SA school holidays.
The Subaru Victorian Cross Country Championships will be conducted at Mt Buller on Sunday, August 9. The Tirol flat cross country course which was designed in conjunction with Ski and Snowboard Australia’s cross country technical delegates in 2014, will be open on Saturday, August 8 for training.
Over 800 event entries are expected in this fantastic event. Event disciplines will be individual and team Classic events, followed by the exciting Freestyle team relay events in the afternoon.
The Victorian championships will be hosted at Mt Buller from August 24 to 30 and 180 schools with over 5000 event entries will compete in the disciplines of Alpine Skiing, Moguls, Ski Cross, Snowboard Cross and Snowboard Giant Slalom.
The top 15 individuals and top six teams from each event will qualify for the Australian championships.
The Subaru Australian Interschool Snowsports Championships will be hosted at Mt Buller from September 9 to 13. All event sites will be prepared throughout the season to maximise the quality of courses at the Nationals. More than 200 schools from around the country will be represented with close to 2900 entries across seven disciplines.
Vic Interschools event manager David Speirs said that he is very excited about the upcoming season.
“The team that impacts on the quality of these events have been working hard on the planning and we are continually looking to improve all areas of the event experience from new mobile compatible website design, improved scheduling and start time information,” Mr Speirs said.
“Our goal is to stage world class events that are not only accessible but deliver an extraordinary competition experience for all levels of participants, as well as their families and schools.”
