The snow sea­son has kicked off well fol­low­ing early snow­falls, re­sult­ing in some moun­tain re­sorts open­ing early. Oth­ers are work­ing hard with their snow­mak­ing fol­low­ing con­tin­u­ing in­vest­ment by all re­sorts in snow­mak­ing. Now we need the snow gods to de­liver a big dump.

Look­ing ahead, the re­sorts and alpine towns are ready to wel­come win­ter vis­i­tors to ski, snow­board, snow play and com­pete, as well the en­ter­tain­ment junkies look­ing to en­joy all that’s on of­fer. Ac­com­mo­da­tion to suit ev­ery bud­get on and off moun­tain is avail­able but it’s best to book early to get your pre­ferred dates.

The ski in­dus­try is an im­por­tant part of the Vic­to­rian re­cre­ation and re­gional economies. Last sea­son Vic­to­rian re­sorts at­tracted 762,000 vis­i­tors which rep­re­sented ap­prox­i­mately 1.4mil­ion visitor days. This was a 12% in­crease in vis­i­tors and 5% in­crease in visitor days com­pared with the 10-year av­er­age be­tween 2006 to 2016. Check out our Re­sort Guide for re­sorts in­for­ma­tion and prices

The 2018 Win­ter Olympics will be held in Py­ongchang in South Korea. Af­ter an amaz­ing North­ern win­ter when our Aus­tralian snow sports ath­letes cel­e­brated fan­tas­tic success with two World Cup Series Crys­tal Globes, 35 World Cup and 5 World Cham­pi­onships medals, our hopes are high for Aussie success to im­prove on eight Olympic medals won in the past three Win­ter Olympics.
