Easter fete helps to bring home the bacon

Alpine Observer - - News -

EASTER Sunday saw huge crowds descend on the Mt Beauty Cenotaph gardens for the Mt Beauty Hospital/Kiewa Valley House fete, which raised nearly $3500 to be shared between the hospital and the aged care facility.

Organiser Barbara Talbot said that she was impressed at the level of community spirit, which was ‘just like the old days.’

“Dr Zagorski did a stunning job at the spinning wheel,” she said.

“The most popular item on the prize list was a live pig, donated by Alan McDonald and won by a local man, who was very excited.”

Over 14 stalls, mostly run by locals, including the Mt Beauty Neighbourhood Centre, the U3A and the Red Cross, offered a huge range of wares, and the Mt Beauty CFA proved a big attraction, especially to the Easter visitors.

Other attractions were a performance by the local line dancers, and busking by Tallon & Millie Smith and six junior members of the Shuttleworth family, who donated all their takings back to the hospital.
