New look for face of 12 Bright Vines
A NEW- look label will be unveiled at the official launch of Bright P12 College’s 12 Bright Vines 2017 this Friday night.
Now in its fourth year of production, the collaboration between the college and Ringer Reef had a little tester at the recently held comedy night and received some very positive feedback.
This year primary students in grades three and four helped pick just over 400kgs of grapes from the schools vines and VCAL coordinator Libby Dean said the quality and quantity of the grapes continued to improve.
“Since harvesting first commenced four years ago, the amount of grapes we are picking is continuing to grow and like everywhere we had a later season than normal,” she said.
“VCAL students worked with Mark Holmes, Bruce and Annie’s son, who has moved back from Mildura to take over Ringer Reef.
“We also had Mick Dalbosco assisting us again and our chemistry students analysed sulfur dioxide content and alcohol content as part of their chemistry course at Ringer Reef, so it has certainly been a collaborative effort.”
Bright P12 College students were also encouraged to submit a label design for the 2017 vintage and Ms Dean said five entries were submitted.
“This year’s winner was year 11 student Elly Jenkins, whose design stood out to the judges,” she said.
Elly created the wine label during work experience in term two with Winding Road Design Studio’s Alicia Marshall.
“During my time there I became familiar with photo shop and other design software and to find inspiration I took photos onsite at Ringer Reef and created an inspiration board,” she said.
The photo I took of the view at Ringer Reef is used in the label and I used the mountains in the photos and put it into grey scale, eliminating any colour.
“I was inspired by the name ‘12 Bright Vines’ to use vines in the image and the end result was some geometric vines which I think gave the label a very modern look.
“I really loved putting the label together and was over the moon to hear that my wine label won.”
The official launch will kick off at 5.30pm this Friday at Ringer Reef, Porepunkah and official proceedings will commence at 6pm.
