Ratepayers group continues to press for dump point
IT’S with a heavy heart that I had to accept Lorry Torriero’s resignation as treasurer.
Lorry has been a devoted member giving so much of his time and energy to the Bright community.
We wish him well as he retires from BaDRA to hopefully enjoy more of his garden and time for family.
The RV dump point is still on our agenda.
We have a petition with more than 2000 signatures to give to Alpine Shire Council, reminding the council that plumbing facilities have already been installed as part of the Pioneer Park reconstruction, and could be easily completed using free CMCA Dump Point Sump Point cover.
We consider ourselves a premium tourist destination and yet we do not have the basic infrastructure that so many other destinations consider to be a minimum.
It is not acceptable that such a basic facility is subject to the whims of caravan park managers for access.
There have been a number of people who have written to the Times-Observer asking why the Alpine council does not have this necessary infrastructure to support this very large tourist requirement (August 2, 2017.)
Please contact our councillors, whose job it is to represent us and what we want.
BaDRA has made a submission about the parking issues in Bright.
We will continue to monitor the progress as the council works it out and will keep you informed.
The complaints about Porepunkah Nicholson Street redevelopment issue complaints have generated a few wins although we are waiting to see the alterations that we’ve been told will be made.
Although monitoring is the way that the council chief executive officer has answered for any further changes to be made, we are at a stalemate to get the necessary historical data to back this up.
We will continue to work on this and ask for the public to remain diligent and send in photographs or make comments to our councillors and to council assets director Will Jeremy about the problems that you see there.
Our annual meeting is scheduled for Tuesday (November 21) at 7.30pm at the Bright Bowls Club and we would love to see you all there.
We all have lots of work to do so look forward to support.
