What do you do?
I am the wine club and marketing manager at Feathertop Winery. Like most of us here I also do a bit of everything from helping out in cellar door and wine club dispatch to making coffee and working on reception.
How long have you been in the role?
I’ve been here five years and it’s been amazing seeing the transformation of the company in that short time.
When I started here there wasn’t actually a marketing role but it was gradually created and then became a fulltime role.
The growth of the business has allowed me to work in what I would call my dream job.
I now look after our 1100 wine club members which is a massive part of the business with something like 80- 90 per cent of our wine sold that way.
What did you do before working at the winery?
Before here I did two seasons up at Mt Hotham with the Resort Management Board in a marketing assistant role.
We undertook a tree change from Melbourne where I worked for a magazine publisher that specialised in a lot of niche publications.
My seven in publishing allowed me to work on my creative skills in terms of advertising production, editorial and tourism knowledge.
Before that I worked at the Melbourne Aquarium.
We’re obviously coming into a busy time for the region. What it is like here over the next few months?
For us this is the easily the busiest time of the year.
It’s the time of year we all sort of live for with holidaymakers and a lot of our regular members who have been supporting us for many years coming back to visit us.
It’s also the wedding season and that’s another side of the business that continues to grow.
Before I was here we did weddings on a small scale but it’s now much bigger, I think we have 26 in the books for this season which is from October right through to the end of May.
What’s also becoming quite popular are midweek or Friday night dos and/or a recovery after party following the wedding.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I love exploring the region and just doing all the things we’re so blessed to have in our backyard.
In winter I love skiing and in summer I’m out exploring the trails around the valley and mountains, catching up with friends and swimming in the river.
Our veggie patch is another passion along with cooking, we quite often hold big dinner parties with friends.
