Short delays, access restrictions as Anderson Street works begin
WORKS to improve the road surface and drainage along Anderson Street in Bright got underway yesterday.
Parking bays will also be realigned on both sides of the street with all work set to be completed by February 21.
Access along Anderson Street is expected to remain, although some short delays might occur, and access to driveways will be restricted at times.
“The big thing is taking the opportunity to fix the drainage from the Shell service station up to the Alpine Hotel,” Alpine Shire assets director Will Jeremy said.
“Along there in winter you basically step out of your car into puddles so we’re going to do what we can to improve the drainage on that side of the street.
“We’re somewhat limited because there are some elm trees we have committed to preserve so we can’t dig too far down below the current level of the street.
“If we were to remove those trees we’d essentially be able to put in new curb and channelling.”
Mr Jeremy said parking on that side of the road will be converted from angel to parallel and parking in front of Gumtree Pies will change from parallel to angle.
“The road is very wide in that spot so we believe we can comfortably accommodate angel parking,” he said.
