ANDREW Melrose has been entering Channel 7’s Sunrise Cash Cow lottery every morning for the past two years, but like most, never really believed he would ever win.

However, last Monday was the Tawonga South resident’s lucky day with the Channel 7 morning show hosts calling his number.

“I rang on Friday and gave them the code word as usual to go into Monday’s draw,” he said.

“On Monday morning we were getting ready to go to Wodonga and weren’t even watching Sunrise, but I wouldn’t leave until they’d done the Cash Cow.

“My wife said, ‘Oh don’t worry, they’ll never ring you’, then my phone rang.

“You have to answer within three rings, and I answered in a split second, and there was Samantha Armitage telling me I had won $10,000.

“I said ‘No way, this better not be a joke.’ “I was shaking like a leaf.” Mr Melrose and his wife have no plans to spend the money on a grand holiday, as they cannot leave their menagerie of pets.

“My wife and I both have health problems, so the money will mostly go towards medical bills,” Mr Melrose said.
