Saville the star again as Power sink Saints
MT BEAUTY has returned to the Cricket Albury Wodonga district winners list with victory over Bethanga.
Daniel Saville did what most players can only dream of, scoring a century and taking five wickets in the same match.
The allrounder followed up his day-one knock of 104 with bowling figures of 5/43 to help dismiss Bethanga for 194 and lead the Power to a 49-run win.
Saville bowled unchanged for 20 overs and took four wickets in the space of a few overs to have Mt Beauty on the brink of victory before Greg Bohun teamed up with number 10 and 11 batsmen Mitch Trafford and Kristen Jahne.
Earlier Chris Derrick (3/42) bowled impressively, following up last week’s early strike with two more scalps in the first session on Saturday to reduce Bethanga to 4/65.
Saville got his first wicket thanks to some good glovework from wicket- keeper Damien Jenvey who stumped Bradley Taylor for 15 after he and Bohun had steadied the hosts with a 34-run stand.
The primary school teacher then dismissed the next three batsmen for ducks to have the Saints in trouble at 8/107.
Bohun and Trafford added 54 runs together before Ben Slocombe claimed the key wicket of the opener for 78.
Saville sealed the win by snaring Jahne (12) after he and Trafford ( 48 not out) took the score to 194.
The Power finished on 4/72 in their second innings with Tristan Hall ( 31) and Will Betheras (29) enjoying a second opportunity at the crease.
