Petition for toilets put to council
THE Upper Kiewa Valley Community Association ( UKVCA) has submitted a petition for a proposal to build public toilets in Tawonga South.
A total of 837 signatures were collected, 575 of those residents and 262 visitors while 473 were obtained by Tawonga South retailers and 364 by UKVCA members at community markets.
The UKVCA’s John Gibbons said that the petition was handed to Alpine Shire Council at its February meeting last Tuesday night.
“Council will consider the proposal and prepare a response which will be presented at the March meeting,” he said.
“The UKVCA a would like to thank the many people who helped collect signatures and those that signed the petition for the building of public toilets in Tawonga South.”
Last October Tawonga South trader David Whelan appealed to Alpine Shire Council to build public toilets in the town after witnessing many people stopping to urinate in the main street close to shops and businesses.
