Ride participants dig deep 4 kids
THE first Ora Holt Memorial Ride has raised $8000 for the 4 Kids and Carers Future Foundation which supports the late mother of four’s orphaned children.
On Saturday about 50 peo- ple made their way, via horseback, pushbike or by foot, from the Freeburgh Hall to the Wandi Pub over the Reliance Track.
The trek was one Ora regularly rode with Pat and Adrian Webster and it’s hoped the ride will be an annual fundraiser and contribute to Ora’s memory after she was tragically killed on Anzac Day last year.
4 Kids and Carers Future Foundation committee member Jason Reid said the first annual ride exceeded expectations.
“We had a great day, a great turn out and we’re really happy with the amount of money we raised,” he said.
“A total of $8000 for the foundation was a great effort and it was also good to get some information out and spread the word about what the foundation is doing.
Mr Reid said funds were raised through the sale of raffle tickets and the auctioning of items at the Wandi Pub on Saturday afternoon.
“We raised some really good money out of the raffle thanks to Al Findlay and Pat Webster,” Mr Reid said.
“The support on the day from people spending big on the auction was also much appreciated so we’d like to give a big shout out to everyone who dug deep and supported the day.”
A breakfast was held at the Freeburgh Hall before the ride commenced.
