Alpine Observer - - Sport -

BRIGHT will finish on the bottom of A Reserve ladder in Wangaratta and District cricket after falling to a disappointing opening day loss against Greta.

The Wanderers managed just 45 after electing to bat at Pioneer Park on Saturday in their final game of a disappointing campaign.

A 16- run opening stand between Dylan Bursill ( 7) and Harry Jamieson ( 7) was the biggest on a horrid day for Bright.

Some bad shot selection brought about Bright’s downfall with all but three batsmen out bowled.

Elliot Sheather ( 5/ 21) ripped through Bright’s top order dismissing five of the first six batsmen.

Two wickets each to Troy Simpson and Mitchell Wheelens and a run- out finished off The Wanderers’ dismal display in just 33 overs in which sundries was the top score with eight.

Greta will resume at 6/ 130 after Mick Barnard lead the visitor’s response with 72.

Sam Dalbosco claimed his first wicket of the season sending Barnard back late in the day, while Rueben Jamieson was the best of home team’s bowlers taking 3/ 30 from 12 overs.

The first day result helped Greta lock up a finals berth.
