MYRTLEFORD has made it two wins from two practice matches with a 32-point victory over Benalla Saints on Saturday.

The Saints were again well served by midfielders Christian Burgess and Lachie Dale while Matt Dussin turned in a best on ground performance in the ruck.

Brothers Will and Luke Quirk were also prominent for the Saints with the latter booting three goals.

Myrtleford jumped out of the blocks with five first quarter majors to open up a 15-point lead that was extended to 24 points at the main break.

Liam Harrington booted two first half goals with the smooth moving wingman’s pin-point kicking also a highlight.

The former Magpie looks set for another good year for after playing every game and figuring among the best players on 11 occasions in his first season at McNamara Reserve.

The Saints were able to keep their Goulburn Valley counterparts at arms-length for the second half kicking six goals to five to run out 14.9 (93) to 9.7 (61) winners.

Meanwhile Saints president Michael Quirk expects to make a decision on the club’s under 18s team later this week after meeting with Ovens and Murray officials last Wednesday.

Myrtleford appears unlikely to field a thirds team with just seven players committed for the season.
