Back to the good old days for Club Savoy
BORN and bred Myrtleford man Anthony Zanghellini is determined to return Club Savoy back to the hub that it used to be in his role as the club’s new manager.
Mr Zanghellini, who grew up and attended school in Myrtleford before moving away to study, recalls spending many hours at the establishment as both a regular local and member of the Myrtleford Savoy Soccer Club, and hopes to use his extensive background in sales and recruitment to lift the business.
“There are a lot of things we can probably improve at the club over time, and some of those things are recruitment processes and standing operating policies and procedures,” he said.
“The general marketing and layout of the Savoy Club can also be improved and they are some of the things I will look to change.”
Mr Zanghellini said his vision for the club was to improve the flow of traffic from both locals and tourists within the next 12 months.
“There is a lot of scope for members and for younger people to come back to the club and engage here especially with families,” he said.
“We are an incorporated club so we really want to base ourselves on offering good entertainment, good product, good food and good drinks at a great price.”
A new food and drink menu has already been launched with prices slashed from previous times.
“The food will have a more traditional Italian feel to it, we have brought back some of the recipes and some of the old classics that people in town should be familiar with,” Mr Zanghellini said.
“I have also updated the wine list to include a lot of the local product like Gapsted Wines, Ringer Reef, Brown Brothers and Ferraro Wines.
“In terms of beers we have added local craft beers from Bright Brewery, King River Brewery and Bridge Road Brewers as well as Alpine Cider.”
Mr Zanghellini said he hopes such changes can create an atmosphere people want to be around.
“Hopefully in time this is the sort of venue people can come with their friends and families to sit down have a great meal and take in the surrounds of our beautiful garden and decking area,” he said.
Beautification works and upgrades have also commenced as well as improvements to the kitchen.
“We have a graduation ball coming up soon and a number of AGMs and end of year functions for Christmas break ups and the like so the next three months things will be very busy here,” Mr Zanghellini said.
