What is your job?

I’m a licensed builder. I build new homes, extensions and lots of other things as well.

How did you get into that work?

I always loved building and creating things with timber. I was lucky enough to get an apprenticeship with Casbak builders when I was 16.

After 7 years I decided to work for myself and became a licensed builder. We now have a fantastic work crew who all share the same passion as me for construction. We love fulfilling people’s dreams of building a new home and working on the local township upgrades. At the moment we are also building and fitting out the exciting new Cloud9 Escape Rooms in Bright. It’s a very rewarding and satisfying trade.

What do you think makes a good builder?

Well we pride ourselves on good quality and honest service, something that’s essential in a community where most people know someone that knows you.

How long have you lived in Bright?

I’ve lived here my whole life. I was born in the old Bright Hospital. I married a local girl Joanne and we had 3 children together so we stayed in the area. We’ve moved up and down the valley from Harrietville, Freeburgh, Porepunkah and now we’ve settled on a few acres in Eurobin.

What do you like about the region?

I love where we live because of the variety of things and lifestyles it has to offer. Every season is different and all of them have something to look forward to. I especially like our mountains and the rivers, clear waters and beautiful scenery that I’d say are pretty hard to find better anywhere else. We love taking the kids swimming to one of our local swimming holes or going camping up the Buckland valley. It’s something we really enjoy doing as a family.

What else do you do in your spare time?

When I’m not spending my spare time doing jobs on our farm, I enjoy time with my wife, kids and granddaughter. I also love camping, hunting and the outdoors. And like most Aussies….a few beers and a BBQ!
