Big crowd expected for Lake Buffalo fishing competition
LAKE Buffalo’s annual fishing competition is again expected to attract a big crowd when it kicks off this Saturday November 3.
Registration open this Friday with as many as 200 people expected to compete, weather allowing.
Event organiser, Rob Ivone, said people were now travelling great distances to attend the growing event.
“It’s been going on a while and is certainly gaining momentum,” he added.
“The grounds are looking fantastic at the moment so hopefully the weather holds out so we can enjoy it, the lakes (also) looking good and there’s a bit of water in there.”
Mr Ivone said the warmer weather should attract Redfin while people will also chase Trout further up the river.
“We haven’t had a huge amount of reports of people catching heaps out there at the moment but there’s been a few good Trout caught for sure,” he added.
The family friendly event is by no means ultra-competitive, though there is a magnificent prize for the winner.
Worth over $3000, the winner of the competition will receive an all exclusive Barramundi fishing tour in the Northern Territory and entry into the lucrative Million Dollar Fish (MDF).
