The latest report on the NBN’s rollout suggests that 6% of the service’s Fibre to the Node (FttN) customers aren’t able to reach speeds of 25Mbps (even if they were to pay for a higher-tier service) while only 32% could possibly benefit from the highest tier, which offers speeds of 75–100Mbps. The company has suggested that a significant factor in this is the “coexistence” of ADSL connections on the copper wiring that forms part of FttN services, and that these ADSL services will likely remain active until mid-2022.
