The guy who first ad­vised us to come up with strong pass­words made up of a com­pli­cated com­bi­na­tion of let­ters and weird char­ac­ters now says he was wrong, 14 years af­ter the fact. Turns out, it’s best to have long phrases one would re­mem­ber as pass­words, as most peo­ple make pre­dictable changes like swap­ping num­bers for let­ters or just changing a sin­gle num­ber, which most hack­ers would be able to guess.
