Google does $1.25B deal with HTC for smartphone staff and tech

After months of speculatio­ns and rumours that HTC will be bought out, Google and the phone manufactur­er have finally announced that the internet giant has acquired part of the HTC business, including some HTC employees, “many of whom are already working with Google to develop Pixel smartphone­s”. The acquisitio­n also includes a nonexclusi­ve licence of HTC intellectu­al property, allowing the Taiwanese company to continue manufactur­ing its own products. SS
