Cabesletr­bar­cat­tian­rgtiAs­tusstralian women New­castleNew South WalesArt Gallery Un­til 23 July, 2017 This ex­hi­bi­tion hon­ours a key and of­ten ob­scured as­pect of art his­tory; the con­tri­bu­tion of women in the de­vel­op­ment of Aus­tralian ab­stract art from the 1920s to the present. Fea­tur­ing paint­ings, draw­ings, ce­ram­ics and sculp­ture by 38 artists in­clud­ing Dor­rit Black, Grace Crow­ley, Anne Dan­gar and Mar­garet Pre­ston, Yvonne Audette, Inge King, Margo Lew­ers and Janet Daw­son, as well as con­tem­po­rary artists Vir­ginia Cup­paidge, El­iz­a­beth Coats, De­bra Dawes and Melinda Harper. Also, ma­jor works by In­dige­nous artists Emily Kame Kng­war­r­eye and Sally Ga­bori among oth­ers.
