Fu­ture Dis­tant His­tory Arte­re­alSyd­ney Gallery 5 to 29 July, 2017 Hay­den Fowler is known for his multi-me­dia and ex­per­i­men­tal works which of­ten take the shape of a set. Coloni­sa­tion is staged here, fix­ing our at­ten­tion on emo­tional, en­vi­ron­men­tal and phys­i­cal trauma. Play­ing on the senses we are en­cour­aged to con­tem­plate the ex­ploita­tion of the land, its peo­ples, stock routes and spirit with an in­stal­la­tion com­pris­ing pho­tog­ra­phy, a large pile of ‘sun bleached bones’ cast in poly­mer plaster and an au­dio com­po­nent of a ci­cada’s song ring­ing out.
