Car­riage­works will be­come a hive of ac­tiv­ity for the arts com­mu­nity and its au­di­ence from 7 to 10 Septem­ber for ‘Syd­ney Con­tem­po­rary’, an an­nual event on the Aus­tralian arts cal­en­dar. A host of lo­cal, na­tional and in­ter­na­tional gal­leries will fea­ture the best in con­tem­po­rary art with new work to be re­vealed through a di­verse range of es­tab­lished and emer­gent arts prac­tices across six plat­forms: Cur­rent, Fu­ture, Pa­per, Per­for­mance, In­stal­la­tion and Video. The pro­gram in­cludes con­ver­sa­tion with lead­ing cre­atives, a chil­dren’s play-scape cre­ated by Ja­panese-Aus­tralian artist Hiromi Tango and the chance to see the lat­est in art publi­ca­tions. Art Al­manac will be at the fair, please come and say hello. Open­ing night in­cludes mu­sic, food and per­for­mance on Thurs­day 7 Septem­ber, 5-9pm.
