Cairns In­dige­nous Art Fair

‘When we are on Coun­try, we flour­ish’ is the premise be­hind this year’s ‘Cairns In­dige­nous Art Fair’ (CIAF) theme: Con­nec­tion to Coun­try. Cu­rated by CIAF Artis­tic Direc­tor, Jan­ina Hard­ing, and renowned curator and writer, Hetti Perkins, the three-day event cel­e­brates the vi­brant Abo­rig­i­nal and Tor­res Strait Is­lan­der cul­tures of far North Queens­land through art, crafts, per­for­mance and fash­ion, as well as chil­dren’s ac­tiv­i­ties, work­shops, artist talks and a sym­po­sium held pri­mar­ily at the Cairns Cruise Liner Ter­mi­nal from 12 to 15 July.

‘CIAF 2018’ launches on Thurs­day 12 July at 6.30pm with a Wel­come to Coun­try by the Gimuy Walubara Yid­inji peo­ple fol­lowed by the an­nounce­ment of the CIAF Art Awards win­ners, who will re­ceive a share of $50,000 across six cat­e­gories.
