Fast Fact Cyclones, hurricanes and typhoons refer to the same weather phenomenon, but different names are used for the different locations of the super storms: Hurricanes in the Atlantic/northeast Pacific, typhoons in the Northwest Pacific and cyclones in the South Pacific/indian Ocean.
