Of­fi­cer as­sault case de­layed

The sen­tenc­ing of a Mar­garet River man charged with as­sault­ing a po­lice of­fi­cer was de­layed on Mon­day for a pre-sen­tenc­ing re­port.

The Mar­garet River Mag­is­trate’s Court was told a re­port or­dered for Michael John An­der­son was not ready be­cause of of­fi­cer ill­ness.

In Novem­ber, An­der­son pleaded guilty to charges stem­ming from an Au­gust 20 in­ci­dent at the Mar- garet River Ho­tel which in­cluded as­sault­ing a po­lice of­fi­cer, dis­or­derly be­hav­iour in pub­lic, fail­ing to com­ply with po­lice or­ders, breach­ing a vi­o­lence re­strain­ing or­der, re­main­ing on li­censed premises, and driv­ing con­trary to the con­di­tions of an ex­tra­or­di­nary driver’s li­cence on Oc­to­ber 8.

An­der­son is serv­ing a sus­pended im­pris­on­ment or­der and may be jailed at his next ap­pear­ance.

The mat­ter was ad­journed un­til Fe­bru­ary 20.
