Shire corporate and community services director Annie Riordan says no details can be provided about a confidential insurance settlement approved by councillors last week.

According to the council report, the matter involved “the consideration of a contract of settlement, a term of which requires confidentiality”.

“The Shire is bound by a confidentiality agreement on this matter, and is not in a position to disclose any further information,” Ms Riordan told the Times.

The Shire refused to detail the cost to ratepayers for the settlement as well as any details about the nature of the matter.
