Augusta win in last over

Augusta Margaret River Times - - Sport -

Ben Kennedy achieved a milestone last weekend in Augusta’s home game against YOBS when he played his 200th game for the club.

He played his first game for the club in the 2003-04 season, and has been a club stalwart ever since.

Fittingly, his teammates helped him celebrate the milestone when they achieved victory over YOBS in the last over of the game.

Batting first, Augusta again struggled as the top order failed to show patience and technique against a strong YOBS attack.

At 7-76 in the 32nd over, it looked like Augusta would be rolled for less than 100 for the fourth time this season. David Beilken topscored with 39.

In reply, YOBS lost opener Tom Payne, bowled by Nisham Bandera for a duck on the sixth ball of the innings.

Tyson Warnke continued his great form with the ball, claiming 5-15 off nine overs. The game came down to the last over, with YOBS needing 13 to win. O’Malley hit the ball to long on but a fine throw by Kennedy resulted in a Trewen run out to end the match.
