Child sex guilty plea
A convicted paedophile who abused children after he was placed on the sex offenders register has admitted to more than 50 child sex assault offences.
David Lindner, 55, who was living in Yallingup at the time of the abuse, appeared in Bunbury Magistrate’s Court last Thursday when he pleaded guilty to a string of charges including sexual penetration of a child under 13.
The court was told Lindner sexually penetrated a child under 16 on 17 separate occasions, sexually penetrated a child under 13 three times and procured a child under 16 to do an indecent act 10 times. Lindner also indecently recorded a child and on seven occasions produced child exploitation material, which included digital pictures and videos of a child engaged in sexual activity.
Appearing via video link from Bunbury Regional Prison, Lindner showed little emotion as Magistrate Brian Mahon read out all 53 child sex charges relating to incidents in Yallingup between December, 2015 and February this year.
Mr Mahon told Lindner’s solicitor Ntuthuko Mcingolwane he should contact the court before his client’s sentencing later this year because he anticipated it would be a “lengthy” exercise and would need longer than a normal matter. Lindner also pleaded guilty to one count each of attempting to sexually penetrate a child under 13 and another under 16, four counts of indecently dealing with a child under 13, eight of indecently dealing with a child under 16, and one count of possessing child exploitation material.
Police prosecutors successfully made an application to discontinue a further four counts of indecently recording a child.
Mr Mahon ordered pre-sentence, psychological and psychiatric reports ahead of Lindner’s sentencing in Bunbury District Court on December 11.
Lindner was remanded in custody.
