ten­der, my teeth hardly got a work­out.

It re­ally was a melt-in-your-mouth mo­ment.

Com­ple­mented by the roasted cau­li­flower, a cou­ple of mush­rooms, the pota­toes and the yummy jus, it all made for a de­li­cious com­bi­na­tion which I kept want­ing more of. And there was still more to come. Warm sticky date pud­ding with caramel sauce and ice-cream was my dessert choice, and it was ex­quis­ite.

Deb chose the lemon meringue pie and cream, and again the pre­sen­ta­tion matched the taste.

Se­ri­ously folks, if you’re look­ing for some­where to re­lax, have a drink, a pizza or fine din­ing, Stilts has got it all.

Great ser­vice, an ex­ten­sive se­lec­tion of wines and beers, ex­quis­ite food, cof­fees and cakes and all set a hop, step and jump from the beau­ti­ful pris­tine waters of Geographe Bay.

Thanks, Gary and staff, you should be very proud of your­selves.

The only down­side was, Deb and I had to go back to work.

I needed a nanna nap and Deb fell asleep on the way back to the of­fice. It’s a hard life when part of your work day in­volves go­ing to lunch at one of your favourite places.

That’s what I had to do last Friday, and Stilts Beach Bar and Restau­rant was the des­ti­na­tion.

My col­league Deb and I were greeted by man­ager Gary and his very friendly staff, and im­me­di­ately felt as if we were the most spe­cial peo­ple on the planet.

The house specials were ex­plained and we were left con­tem­plat­ing what to order.

If I had one com­plaint to make, it was sim­ply that I wanted to try ev­ery­thing on the menu.

We de­cided to en­joy some de­li­cious gar­lic bread while we dis­cussed the menu, and made up our minds.

Deb went for the herb and lemon chicken breast, zuc­chini cake, slow-roasted toma­toes and green olive tape­nade.

I chose the MSA­grade scotch fil­let steak, which came with but­ter fon­dant pota­toes, roasted cau­li­flower, field mush­rooms and jus.

Hav­ing made our choices, we sat back and en­joyed the beau­ti­ful sur­round­ings with the open fire burn­ing brightly, and the tran­quil­lity of the beer gar­den and ocean.

Soon enough, our mains were served and the pre­sen­ta­tion was very artis­tic and mouth-wa­ter­ingly ap­petis­ing, but the best was yet to come.
