Gropers fall to Bunbury
Margaret River Gropers suffered their first loss of the season against Bunbury in the South West rugby competition on Saturday.
The Gropers travelled to Bunbury for the match, with the hosts putting on a strong performance in the first half to finish ahead 20-10.
Bunbury played to their strengths in the forward-oriented game, dominating possessions and territories in the first half to put down two tries and ratchet up the pressure on the visiting Gropers.
Margaret River managed to push back in the second half and recorded two tries for the game, but the defensive work early on took its toll and another try from Bunbury sealed the deal for the home side.
The competition has a bye this weekend, but the Gropers have two more games left in the season, taking on an equally strong Dunsborough-Busselton Dungbeetles at home on Saturday, August 5.
The clash between the top-two teams on the ladder will be held at 3pm at the main oval.
